Guided Birding & Hiking Trails
Crown River Safari boasts magnificent views of beautiful Yellowwood trees supporting large Crown Eagle and Hammer Kop nests. During October, November and December the nest provides views of parent birds feeding one or two fluffy white chicks. Approximately 400 different bird species frequent the area and will provide hours of viewing pleasure. Guests have the possibility of seeing a Fish Eagle diving and lifting prey from the water, while they relax and enjoy refreshments from the porch at the lodge.
We offer Guided Birding Tours: Tim Cockcroft is probably best known in local circles for his ability to recognise bird calls and, in some cases, calling them out of the bush for people to see. Whether he is leading a private outing, a bird club outing, or just part of the group, his skills are put to good use. Some have even dubbed him the “Bird Whisperer”. He is a registered FGASA guide and is available for tours.
